"When I discovered a lump on the chest of my 9-year old dog in February this year, I knew I had to act quickly. I did not want to follow the same route I took in the past, when 3-4 month on expensive medications brought a demise to my favourite pointer cross. I knew a lady who was treating her dog in a stage 4 brain cancer and was given weeks to live by the vet, with medicinal mushrooms. This dog was still full of energy and zest for life 6 months after the diagnosis.

I searched various options and discovered that there has been scientific evidence of the positive effect of beta-glucans in turkey tail, reishi and cordyceps mushroom on dog well-being, particularly when it comes to immune system support, delaying metastasis and assisting with chemotherapy. I purchased the powdered mushrooms from the Botanicum SA website as it gave me freedom to adjust the dosage and also blend different mushrooms, if desired.

I started adding small quantity to her food in March and it took about a month to start noticing the changes in my dog: she has perked up and her level of alertness has improved. I have increased the dosage gradually and so far, there has not been any unpleasant side effects. The lump has not disappeared, although it did become smaller. Like with all natural therapies, I do not expect any quick resolutions, but the improved quality of life in my dog brings me a lot of joy.
